Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a furnace and a heat pump?

A furnace burns fuel (usually natural gas) to generate heat. A heat pump moves heat from outside air into your home using refrigerant — similar to an AC running in reverse. Heat pumps are more energy-efficient in mild climates like Central Texas, while furnaces provide more powerful heating during rare deep freezes.

How often should I service my heating system?

Annual maintenance is recommended, ideally in the fall before heating season. A tune-up includes checking the heat exchanger, cleaning the burners, testing safety controls, and verifying proper airflow. Kimco membership members get this included automatically.

Why is my heater blowing cold air?

Common causes include a dirty air filter restricting airflow, a malfunctioning thermostat, a pilot light that's gone out (gas furnaces), or a failed ignitor. Check your filter and thermostat settings first — if those are fine, call a technician to diagnose the issue.
